experts have recently had a meeting with authorities of the People's
Committee of Quang Binh province on dossier evaluation of Heritage site
Phong Nha - Ke Bang National park
After 5 days examining the criteria in
Phong Nha - Ke Bang national park the
expert team has made assessment focusing on the balance of tourism
development and preservation, infrastructure development in the centre of
the heritage area, the protection of the forest; financial budget for the
protected zones...
According to experts, this is an important factor that helps the National
Park Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park preserve and promote the heritage
values and enhancing the possibility to be acknowledged by UNESCO as a World
Natural Heritage for the 2nd time, Particularly the experts also gave
recommendations for forest protection, monitoring of biodiversity for the
forest rangers, training and retraining for the rangers on the prevention of
illegal logging, methods of law enforcement...
The two sides also spent time discussing and expressing ideas in order to
find effective solutions to the complete documents to be recognized by
UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage of biodiversity criteria system.
In order to preserve the precious natural resources of Phong Nha - Ke Bang
National Park, Quang Binh province has faced the difficulties in which the
most serious problem is to manage and protect forest resources. Therefore in
the meetings, Quang Binh province has also express some of the difficulties
and ways for exploitation of tourism value of the national park in the
future and look forward to the experts' comments to help Quang Binh better
develope and preserve the heritage Phong Nha - Ke Bang national park.
On behalf of Quang Binh people's committee, Vice Chairman Tran Van Tuan
thanked the attention of the expert team for the World Heritage Phong Nha -
Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh will endeavor further the conservation of
heritage values in order to be recognized as the world natural heritage on
the criteria of biodiversity and eco systems.
